Define the question and scope
Which transport service, time period, geography and emissions boundary are being assessed?
TAM-AMS
TAM-AMS is an algebraic modelling platform that defines sets, parameters, variables, constraints and objective functions in .tam files. Data and assumptions are separated from the model structure, and the solution process operates on that explicit definition.
Which transport service, time period, geography and emissions boundary are being assessed?
Measured data, project-owner inputs, external sources and scenario assumptions are identified separately.
Parameters, variables, equations, constraints and objectives are defined as explicit relationships.
An infeasible or constrained scenario can be as informative as a feasible result and requires diagnosis.
Reference and project or policy cases are compared under consistent service definitions and model boundaries wherever possible.
Units, base year, scope, sources, assumptions and uncertainty are reported with the result.
The value of a model lies not only in producing a number, but in showing the decisions and conditions that lead to it.
Model logic and the data layer are kept separate. The same structure can therefore be run with different datasets, geographies or scenarios, while the effect of individual parameters, constraints and assumptions remains easier to trace.
